“Daidarabo and Holiburn – Let’s create the sound#1”
July 25 – 26, 2016, 11:00-14:30
Kunita Compulsory Education School (Mito, Japan)
Collaborators: Makoto Nomura, Kumiko Yabu, Masaya Kikuchi
18 children (9-12 years old)

This year’s theme was “music / sound”. In collaboration with two professional musicians, Makoto Nomura and Kumiko Yabu, we organized music-related workshop that children portray their stories “Journey of Daidarabo and Holiburn” that they wrote in 2015 by “sounds”. On the first day, I set 6 objects (mountain, water fall, rock, footprint, Nanatsudo Park, St.Michael’s Mount ) that are relevant to the giants and a short movie in the music room. In this environment, the children challenged to find a new mode of representation including music and sound. On the second day, they created Phillippine musical instruments “tongatong” that can express the giants world. They also made the instructions for their tongaton that the children in Penzance can play with it.
